Welcome to Puketapu School!
Kia ora and Haere Mai,
Thank you for visiting the Puketapu School website and for your interest in our school, which we hope will become your school.
Puketapu School has a rich history dating back to 1864 when it opened its doors to 22 eager learners. Today, we are proud to maintain this legacy with a dedicated and skilled staff, a committed Board of Trustees, and a supportive parent community. Together, we continuously enhance our facilities and grounds, ensuring a nurturing environment for our students and the wider community. We highly value these collaborative partnerships and are dedicated to their ongoing improvement.
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Puketapu, our school enjoys the natural beauty of its surroundings, with the Tutaekuri River and rolling hills as our backdrop. Our students thrive in this environment, both inside and outside the classroom, embodying our values of being caring (Manaakitanga), connected Whanaungatanga), creative (Auahatanga), and active lifelong learners (Rangatiratanga).
Our staff are not only educators but also learners themselves, continuously striving for professional growth and excellence. We tailor our learning programs to meet the diverse needs of our students, providing opportunities for choice, challenge, extension, and support.
At Puketapu School, we are committed to nurturing each child's potential and celebrating their successes and achievements. Literacy and numeracy are foundational pillars of our curriculum, which is designed to be balanced, broad, and place-based.
We are dedicated to providing our learners with the best possible opportunities, programs, and resources to support their educational journey. We invite you to experience firsthand the dynamic learning environment at Puketapu School by visiting us in person.
I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet you and your family/whānau.
Warm regards,
Sam Hocking
Principal
